habitat for humanity

Did you know that a group of St. Markers are active in Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that builds and rehabilitates houses here in Louisville and around the world?

On September 4, Janie Estes, Edgar Eaves, Cissy Dendy, and St. Mark's Habitat coordinator David MacCool all attended the Raise the Roof ceremony for Metro Louisville's 300th Habitat for Humanity house. They are working together in partnership with volunteers from St. Francis in the Fields, St. Andrew's, St. James, St. Paul's, St. Peter's, St. Thomas, Christ Church Cathedral, St. Luke's, the University of Louisville Interfaith Center, and the Jewish Community of Louisville to build Habitat's 300th house at 3024 W. Madison Street, helping Ms. Tawanta Cox and her young son Dudley to build their own affordable home.

St. Mark's will also be providing bag lunches for all of the volunteers on October 24 and November 14. If you are interested in helping to prepare lunches for the crew, please contact Marti Taber in the parish office. If you are interested in joining our dedicated building team, please contact David MacCool or Anne Vouga. There are jobs for all skill-levels, and volunteers are happy to teach you new skills.
