worship

Worship is at the center of everything we do at St. Mark's Episcopal church. Our common life is regulated by the rhythms of the church year (Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost), with weekly celebrations of Holy Eucharist and the daily praying of Morning Prayer.

Blessing bread and wineSt. Mark's celebrates Holy Eucharist each Saturday evening at 5:30 pm, and  each Sunday at 8 am and 10 am. Weekday worship includes Morning Prayer Tuesday through Friday at 9 am, and the Holy Eucharist with anointing and prayers for healing on Tuesdays at 10 am. Seasonal and festival liturgies complete our calendar of worship.

Acolytes at St. Mark'sLay members of the parish actively serve as lectors and chalice bearers, acolytes, intercessors, ushers, greeters, members of the altar guild, and choir members. a worship council with representatives from each of these groups meets regularly with the rector to coordinate the worship life of the parish.

While children are always welcome in worship services at St. Mark’s, trained sitters and parent volunteers provide childcare for infants through 1st graders during the 10 am Sunday service. A well appointed nursery, an activity room and a new Children's Chapel are available for your children should you wish to use them. Click here to see the Children's Chapel.

The nursery is located on the same level as the sanctuary, and the activity room for older children (those who no longer wear diapers) is located on the second floor of the education center. During church school, the nursery remains open for infants, toddlers, and 2 year olds.

Childcare is also provided at the Saturday evening worship service.
